AMRC Cymru

AMRC Cymru is a facility of the University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre and a member of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult, a consortium of manufacturing and process research centres backed by Innovate UK. Since opening in 2019, it has run more than 20 programmes teaching companies to digitally measure energy use, engaged with over 100 small businesses in Wales, and supported more than 50 SMEs on their digital and sustainable manufacturing journey. It is based at the HVM Catapult's digital factory hub in Baglan, South Wales, a partnership between the HVM Catapult (funded by UK government) and the Welsh Government, funded with £20m from the Welsh Government and managed by the University of Sheffield. The centre houses digital, automation and design engineering capabilities including additive manufacturing, assembly, assurance, automation, design and prototyping, digital manufacturing and sustainability. Current activity includes the ADAPTS programme, which supports manufacturers in Wales with productivity, skills, training and decarbonisation.
