ATA Carnet

The London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) issues ATA Carnets, described as a 'passport for commercial goods', an international customs document permitting temporary admission of commercial, non-perishable goods into more than 80 countries and territories for up to a year, valid for 12 months and acting as a multi-trip guarantee against duties and taxes otherwise payable at each border crossing. LCCI states it is the largest issuer of ATA Carnets globally, with an in-house team supporting applicants from initial application through to final discharge of liability 33 months later. The document is widely used by exhibitors, racing teams, film and TV production companies, event technicians and business travellers moving commercial samples, professional equipment or trade fair goods. Both paper and newly-transitioning digital (QR code) formats are described, with paper carnets due to be phased out by 2028; a related EC/CPD/China-Taiwan Carnet is also available. Applications are made online via LCCI's ECarnet platform, with carnets posted or collected from LCCI's City or Hounslow offices; members receive discounted issuing fees, and a related training course covering the carnet process is available.

Open to any business or individual needing to temporarily export qualifying commercial goods to ATA Carnet scheme countries; LCCI members receive discounted fees, and Taiwan Carnet applications are issued only by LCCI as the sole UK-accredited chamber for that document.
