About this support
Made Smarter, delivered by Growth Platform in the Liverpool City Region, is a government-backed initiative supporting manufacturers across the North West to increase growth and productivity through adoption of industrial digitalisation technologies (IDT), such as automation, robotics, sensor technology, IoT, 3D printing, AI and VR. Business advisers and specialist technology experts help manufacturers identify which technologies suit their business and how best to implement them. The programme offers expert guidance to create a tailored digital roadmap, up to £20,000 in match funding to invest in appropriate technology (up to 50% match funding), funded digital interns to bring skills and support to the workforce, and leadership training to build digital confidence across the organisation. The page cites national estimates that wider digital adoption across UK manufacturing could contribute a £455 billion boost to the economy, create 175,000 jobs and cut emissions by 4.5%, though these figures relate to the national Made Smarter initiative rather than guaranteed outcomes for individual participants. Interested businesses are directed to register via the national madesmarter.uk website.
