Made Smarter, as delivered through York & North Yorkshire Growth Hub, helps manufacturing businesses in the region grow through emerging digital technologies, aiming to increase efficiency, reduce downtime and help businesses reach market faster. Whether a business is new to digital technology or has already begun a digitalisation journey, it can receive bespoke advice on skills, leadership and innovation strategies from industry specialists. Support strands include Diagnostics and Roadmaps, which assess digital readiness and produce a tailored Digital Roadmap; Intensive Technical Support to address digital capability gaps through dedicated consultancy with up to 50% match funding; a Digital Manufacturing Leadership Programme for senior leaders, ending with a tailored Digital Growth Strategy; a Digital Manufacturing Champions Programme for managers, combining online learning, workshops, coaching and site visits; fully funded Digital Internships bringing digital talent into the business; and Digital Technology Grants of up to £20,000 (50% match funded) to support adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies identified through a digital assessment. The page includes several regional case studies of manufacturers that used the programme to improve CRM systems, invest in automation, or build STEM and skills engagement.

To be eligible, the business must be a manufacturer, an SME, based in the Yorkshire and Humber region, and trading for at least two years from commercial premises.
